Taroudant and Tiout excursion from Agadir (1 day)
The trip starts from your hotel at 8:30 am heading towards Taroudant around 80km southeast of Agadir, a medieval town nicknamed «the little Marrakech", located in the valley of Souss surrounded by the High Atlas and the Anti-Atlas Mountains. The town gives an excellent impression of southern Morocco. The tawny color of its ramparts, the charm of its souks and the ancient history make this little jewel a must see site.
Arriving in the town start with a tour of the ramparts (about 6 km long), visit the Salam Palace (old Pasha Palace) transformed into a Riad-hotel), coffee or tea break at leisure in palace gardens; continue walking the alleys of the medina and finishing the walk at the Assarag Square, a meeting place for the peasants coming from the neighboring areas and the city dwellers of the medina.
Follow up with the trip to the oasis of Tiout located about thirty kilometers from Taroudant; a Berber village at the foot of the Anti-Atlas with a magnificent palm grove which extends between several villages with red ocher houses offering a sublime landscape. Perched On top of the hill, the kasbah of Tiout offers a stunning panoramic view with a contrast of both green and barren land.
Lunch on site (Berber cuisine is on the menu with delicious dishes, very refined and finger licking. Visit the palm grove and the best way yet is hiring a donkey which is an effective way to get to know and contribute to the economy of the local villagers, the walk in the palm grove is optional.
The trip back to Agadir will take you on another drive for change of scenery.
Arrive at the hotel around 5:00 pm.
