One-Day Excursion from Cruises ship (Visit to Agadir + Taroudant and Tiout)
The visit begins at 8:30 AM heading towards the Souss Plain, a well-known agricultural area in Morocco, and continues to Taroudant, one of the oldest cities in Morocco. Located 80 km southeast of Agadir, its ancient medina is surrounded by impressive earthen ramparts that remind visitors a bit of Marrakech.
The excursion starts with a vehicle tour of the ramparts, followed by an entrance through one of its famous gates, "Bab Selsla," where there will be a stop for photos at the great wall. From there, we leave our minibus to start a walking tour and discover the old medina and its labyrinthine streets, the souk rich in crafts, food products, clothing, and jewelry—a paradise for lovers of authenticity and genuine atmospheres. To refresh ourselves, we head to an old palace in the medina that has now been transformed into a hotel/Riad. After a brief visit, it’s also a chance to enjoy mint tea, coffee, or perhaps a fresh orange juice in the peaceful patio and garden of this charming palace.
At the end of the medina visit, free time is granted at
Place Assarag to enjoy the folklore from Berber musicians, snake charmers, and
storytellers, as well as tooth pullers...take photos at will. To fully enjoy
this atmosphere, a coffee or mint tea in one of the cafés under the arcades of
the large square is well-deserved.
To explore the palm grove, the best way is to ride on the back of a donkey. This remains an effective means to enjoy the ride and also supports the residents, contributing to the economy of their villages. Taking a stroll through the palm trees is optional, and some visitors may find it more interesting.
The return to Agadir will take a different route for a complete
change of scenery.
