Essaouira Excursion: Explore The Historical Magic of The City

Brief description:

Essaouira, the remarkably beautiful city, nicknamed the pearl of the Atlantic and known since the 14th century under the name of Mogador and still boasts of keeping this name which is dear to its inhabitants. Located 170 km north of Agadir and surrounded by ramparts. Also called the city of the winds(300 days/year); this gorgeous city with Its all-white medina and its blue doors and windows is classified as a Unesco World Heritage Site.

Schedule:

Departure at 08:15 a.m. driving along the beautiful little wild beaches on the Atlantic coast with panoramic views and gorgeous landscapes. You can pull over at any turn for fantastic pictures of goats on Argan trees or for just a breath of the Atlantic breeze. Most part of the itinerary is mountainous and dotted with the famous Argan tree. The female cooperative of Argan oil extraction is a possible stop; being part of the program INDH: (the National Initiative of Human Development). It deserves a short visit.

Highlights of Essaouira:

• The port: In the XVIII century, it was considered to be the international principal port linking Morocco and its Saharan hinterland to Europe and eventually with the rest of the world.
• The Medina: Built accordingly to the principles of the European military architecture of the time.
• La Scala: Famous for its old canons aimed at the Atlantic Ocean.
• The old Jewish quarter: "El Mellah", located at the end of the main square surrounded by many cafés and shops is also worth visiting.

Following the Medina tour and its lively alleys, you will stop for a well-deserved lunch at one of the restaurants facing the Atlantic Ocean and specializing in seafood, prepare for a feast. After lunch, free time is allowed on the beach or around the medina area to explore on your own.
